Last year, Mira, my Bernese Mtn. Dog, began making visits to the school. I am excited that this year, she will continue to make visits. In addition, Mira’s puppy Pema, and her friend, an English Cocker Spaniel, Sunny, are “school dogs” in training. A of the puppies’ adventures towards becoming therapy dogs will be added to my counselor’s website. My goal is that they are fully trained and certified for the 2019-2020 school year. Mira and myself are also in training to bring these services to Vision.
Update: Both puppies have graduated from the AKC’s “Star Puppy” program and are advancing on to an AKC “Canine Good Citizen” class where they will learn more advanced skills for becoming future animal assisted therapy dogs.
Please note that parents are always welcomed to call or email me in regards to their students. Parents can also submit a contact form via my website.
