message about academic advising
Some students may be wondering why there is a message in their Advanced Opportunities accounts. It states that academic advising is neeeded. This message is in response to the new legislative change to the Advanced Opportuniities statute that states "A student who has earned fifteen (15) postsecondary credits using the advanced opportunities program and who wishes to earn
additional credits must first identify his postsecondary goals. Advisors shall counsel any student who wishes to take dual credit courses that the student should ascertain for himself whether the particular postsecondary institution that he desires to attend will accept the transfer of coursework credits under this section."
By completing your ECAP (Education Career Action Plan) "College Research" tab, and identifying a college, university, or trade school (or comparing three colleges, universities, or trade schools), and researching the acceptance of dual credits by the post secondary institution(s), you have met this advising requirement. Please review your ECAP to determine if you have completed the task.
