Both CWI and TVCC have courses that may interest you during high school. From welding to Certified Nursing Assistant; drafting to early childhood education and many more areas of studies....your local community colleges may have what you are looking for to get a "jump start" during high school so you are able to join a competitve job market upon graduation. While there are balancing of classes and high school requirements, VCS's first students have completed CNA training, welding certification, Emergency Medical Technician, and CPR classes. **NEW CHANGES** Use advanced opportunites funds
towards workforce development classes!**
New for 2019- Idaho has expanded its Advanced Opportunities funding to allow students to use $500 per course ($1,000 per year) of Advanced Opportunities funding towards workforce development classes that will be published on an approved list by the state ("Hot jobs"- jobs in demand). For the Caldwell region, CWI offers the following classes as part of the new rules: Electrical Apprenticeship, Plumbing Apprenticeship, HVAC Apprenticeship, and Phlebotomy. See Statute HERE Other programs not listed as part of the new statute can still utilize Advanced Opportunities funding as overload classes ($225 per class). Please see Dr. Dowski for additional information.
